Detectives from the Southern Investigation Division are investigating an assault in Gillen.

Police responded to reports of an assault at a residence in Nicker Cresent at approximately 7.45am, and are currently processing the scene.

A woman has been taken to Alice Springs hospital where she remains in a serious condition.

Police urge anyone who may have been in the area around 7.45am this morning to contact Police on 131444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Investigations are continuing.
