Arrest and Public Assistance Sought – Dangerous Driving – Howard Springs

Police are calling for witnesses in relation to a dangerous driving incident which occurred in Howard Springs on Saturday night.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Karl Day from the Serious Crime Squad said it is alleged a 35-year-old man rammed a number of cars and drove in a threatening manner at people on foot.

The man was arrested yesterday and is to appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court today, charged with aggravated recklessly endanger life (x3), obstruct person from providing rescue (x2), intending to disable – attempt to strike and damage to property.

“Police allege the man, driving a white Toyota twin cab Hilux, allegedly rammed a grey Toyota Hilux at around 10pm on Goy Road,” Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Day said.

“A short time later a silver Toyota Corolla, which had pulled over to assist the occupants of the grey Hilux, was driven at in a threatening manner before the occupants of the Corolla fled.

“Moments later it is alleged the 35-year-old rammed another vehicle, a green Holden Commodore, the occupants of which were witnesses to the original incident on Goy Road.

“The Commodore was travelling on Whitewood Road at the time and left the road upon impact, landing in a ditch.

“It is believed the alleged offender rammed the stationary vehicle a number of times, before allegedly attempting to run down the heavily pregnant occupant as she ran from the scene.

“The Toyota Hilux became trapped in a fence and within a short time, Police and St John Ambulance members were on scene.
