Armed Robbery Arrests - Firearms Recovered

Police

A second man has been arrested following two armed hold ups overnight.

Investigations led Detectives to an address in Gray and the 19-year old was apprehended without incident.

Earlier this morning, officers from General Duties, the Territory Response Group, Negotiators and the Serious Crime Squad attended a residence in Moulden and arrested a 25-year-old man who was wanted in relation to an alleged armed hold up that occurred overnight.

“Police will allege that both men threatened the occupants of a house at Ludmilla with a firearm and committed an armed robbery upon a couple parked in a vehicle at Casuarina Beach, stealing a sum of cash,” said Detective Sergeant Day of the Serious Crime Squad.

Both men are expected to be charged with robbery, aggravated assault, possession of dangerous drugs and several offences relating to the possession of firearms and ammunition.

During the course of the investigation, Detectives have recovered two firearms and two balaclavas believed to have been used during the offending. The recovered firearms are;

•1 x Rossi Winchester 30.30 calibre lever action rifle.

•1 x black Mossberg .308 calibre bolt action rifle with black scope

“The serial numbers of the rifles have been defaced and the forensic examination of the weapons is progressing. The make, model and appearance of the firearms lead us to strongly suspect that they are likely to be the two firearms stolen from a CBD location earlier this week.

“The investigation remains ongoing and we ask anyone with any information about this very serious offending to call the Police Assistance Line on 131 444 or to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. By contacting Crime Stoppers, you may remain anonymous and provide information to Police confidentially,” concluded Detective Sergeant Day.
