Members from the Northern Investigation Unit have charged a 42-year-old man with the aggravated assault of two women and a man.

Senior Sergeant Neville Pulford said the offender allegedly posed as a tour guide and threatened the victims and made sexual advances to one of the women on Wednesday 22 January.

Police arrested the alleged offender on the Stuart Highway near the Edith Falls turn off yesterday at 11:30am.

“He has been charged with a number of offences including:

Aggravated assault x 3

Unlawfully use controlled weapon

Indecent assault

Perform acts of gross indecency

Unlawful use of motor vehicle

Drive under the influence

Drive without due care

Drive in the NT whilst disqualified interstat

“He has been remanded in custody to appear in Katherine Magistrates Court on today.”
