Aggravated Assault - Call for Public Assistance - Katherine

Police are seeking public assistance in relation to an aggravated assault which occurred in Katherine yesterday.

Senior Constable Robert Engels from the Northern Investigation Section said a 43-year-old man and an unknown male offender were involved in an altercation near the corner of Lindsay Terrace and Katherine Terrace at around 6:50pm.

“The offender allegedly struck the victim to the head several times. The victim was medevaced to Royal Darwin Hospital and remains in a serious but stable condition.

“The offender is described as being of Aboriginal appearance with dark curly hair, beard and of a solid build. He was wearing dark jeans with a light coloured belt, black boots and although not wearing a shirt, had a black and red shirt in his possession at the time.”
