Adelaide River Races wrap up

Police

Despite the large crowd, Police report that the patrons at the Adelaide River Races were for the most part very well behaved.

Superintendent Craig Barrett said approximately 2500 people attended the races with the majority of the attendees enjoying the day.

“However it was disappointing to see a number of people having to be removed from the venue for anti-social behaviour,” Superintendent Barrett said.

Police from Northern Substance Abuse Intelligence Desk (NSAID), Dog Operations Unit, Northern Traffic Operations, Metropolitan Patrol Group (MPG), Adelaide River, Batchelor, Pine Creek and Casuarina maintained patrols of the Stuart highway, Township and race venue throughout the weekend.

“Of the near 700 RBT’s conducted, Police issued six Traffic Infringement Notices for Low Range Drink Driving, two summons to Darwin Court for Medium Range Drink Driving and five other Traffic infringement notices.

Police would like to thank the members of the public who enjoyed the day for what it was and behaved accordingly.
