Youth Charged - Darwin

Police

Strike Force Trident Detectives have charged a 17-year-old male following a $154,000 crime spree across Darwin on the weekend.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Stringer said the youth and a number of other offenders unlawfully entered three residences and stole four vehicles on Saturday.

“It is alleged the offender unlawfully entered residences in Coconut Grove, Nakara and Wanguri and stole a Subaru Impreza, a Holden Commodore, Holden Commodore Omega and a Holden HSV GTS Commodore.

“Police recovered $150,000 of the stolen property. Two of the vehicles were extensively damaged, one being rammed into a gate, one colliding with a curb and another being set on fire.”

“The youth was apprehended by uniformed Police Officers after spending the morning actively avoiding Police.” 

The youth has been charged with:

Aggravated unlawful use of a motor vehicle (x4)

Unlawful enter dwelling with intent (x3)

Stealing (x3)

Drive a motor vehicle while unlicensed (x2)

Damage to property.

He will appear in Darwin Youth Justice Court today.
