Members from Strike Force Vega have arrested and charged a 14-year-old male in relation to the theft and unlawful use of two motor vehicles.

Members from Strike Force Vega have arrested and charged a 14-year-old male in relation to the theft and unlawful use of two motor vehicles.

Detective Senior Sergeant Peter Malley said Police alleged the youth stole a utility from Traeger Park on the 29 March. The burnt out vehicle was located in bushland near Karnte Camp the following day.

“The offender has then allegedly unlawfully entered a residence in Gillen and stolen a VE Commodore sedan. It appears the offender has then driven to Heavitree Gap Hotel and attempted to unlawfully enter the venue.”

The youth who is a known recidivist property offender was arrested by Police yesterday.

“Strike Force Vega continues to actively target recidivist offenders and criminals who blatantly engage in this type of unlawful activity.” Detective Senior Sergeant Malley said.

The youth was charged with aggravated unlawful use of motor vehicle, aggravated unlawful entry, stealing, unlawful use of motor vehicle and providing a false name to Police. He will appear in Alice Springs Youth Justice Court 5 April.
