A 52-year-old male will be appearing in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court today, charged with arson, following the structure fire of a telecommunications tower on Sunday.

Detective Senior Sergeant Peter Malley from the Southern Investigations Section said the man is alleged to have set fire to the tower, causing more than $40,000 damage and causing major phone and EFTPOS disruptions to a nearby resort.

“Police arrested the man at a camp ground in Yulara and remanded him in custody to appear in court today.”
