Police have now released a description of a man, believed to have been involved in the assault of a 30-year-old man in Nhulunbuy early Sunday morning.

Senior Sergeant Brendan Muldoon said it is alleged the victim was walking along Arnhem Road, near the IGA Access Road intersection, when he was approached by a man.

“The man is alleged to have struck the victim to the side of his head, knocking him unconscious, before fleeing the area,” Senior Sergeant Muldoon said.

“The offender is described to be of Aboriginal appearance, approximately 30 years of age, slim build and around 180cm tall. He is described as having facial hair and was wearing a light coloured baseball cap at the time of the incident.

“Police urge anyone who may have seen this man in the area, or who may have any information relating to the incident, to contact them on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
