Police

Alice Springs Police are seeking public assistance to identify a man who was allegedly involved in the unlawful entry of a liquor outlet, and who also drove recklessly around the CBD last night.

Detective Superintendent Brent Warren said the offender allegedly used a red Ford Falcon during a ‘ram raid‘ at a liquor outlet on Dalgety Road in Braitling at around 8pm, and allegedly stole 16 bottles of spirits.

“Police received reports a silver Ford Falcon was driving erratically around the Alice Springs CBD at around10pm.

“Police allege the driver began swerving at Police vehicles while the occupants in the car were throwing full bottles of alcohol at members of the public and other vehicles.

“The offender has then allegedly rammed a Police vehicle, striking the nudge bar and dislodging a light, before allegedly ramming a utility causing minor damage to one of the panels.

“Police followed the offender along Undoolya Road and away from the CBD, he was last seen turning off the highway. Police located the vehicle on a dirt road between Undoolya Road and Hidden Valley Camp a short time later.

“Police urge anyone with who may have witness this incident, or who may have taken video footage of the incident on their camera or mobile phone to contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
