Wadeye Police have made eight arrests in relation to a series of unlawful entries over the Christmas and New Year period.

The Acting Officer in Charge of Wadeye Police Station, Senior Constable Andrew Nicholson, said very good work from Police and cooperation from the community has lead to a number of arrests.

“Two youths aged 14 and 15 and a 25-year-old man were arrested and charged for unlawfully entry in a private residence on December 21.

“All three were charged with aggravated unlawful entry, damage to property, stealing, trespass and posses liquor in a restricted area.

“Police made a further four arrests for two separate unlawful entries at the Wadeye Our Lady of Sacred Heart School on December 24 and 26.

“The four male offenders aged 18, 19 and 20 have been charged with aggravated unlawful entry, damage to property, trespass, stealing and armed with an offensive weapon.

“Six of the seven males arrested for unlawful entry between December 21 to 26 were remanded in custody.” Senior Constable Nicholson said.

“A 25-year-old man was arrested today for the unlawful entry of a private residence on January 2. He has been charged with aggravated unlawful entry, damage to property and stealing.”

He has been bailed to appear at the Wadeye Magistrates Court on January 8.

Police expect to make more arrests in the coming days.
