Two Charged with Traffic Offences - Tennant Creek

Two men aged 20 and 22 will appear in Tennant Creek Magistrates Court today charged with a number of traffic offences, including recklessly endangering the life of a Police Officer.

Superintendent Daniel Bacon said Police attempted to apprehend a Holden Astra along Peko Road on Monday evening when the 20-year-old driver accelerated away from Officers.

“Police observed the same vehicle driven by the 22-year-old travelling through Wuppa Camp at around 2:55am.

“Police apprehend the vehicle and approached the driver on foot. The offender allegedly accelerated and swerved towards Police members, narrowly missing the Officers.

“Police later observed the vehicle on Blain Street at around 4am. The two offenders fled the scene but were arrested by Police a short time later.”

The 22-year-old was charged with:

Recklessly endangering life – aggravated (x2)

Drive high range

Drive disqualified

Breach good behaviour bond

 

The 20-year-old was charged with:

Drive high range

Drive disqualified

Fail to obey direction of Police Officer

Drive without due care.
