Supportlink Launch Alice Springs

Police

Northern Territory Police have joined forces with national organisation, SupportLink, for a project aimed at delivering targeted referral and diversion services to people who require social services assistance.

SupportLink provides a single referral gateway to address issues such as domestic and family violence, drug and alcohol dependence, drug and alcohol diversions and homelessness.

“Police in Alice Springs and SupportLink have been working closely together for three months and will now undertake a formal six-month trial of the Referral Management System.” Said Police Commissioner John McRoberts.

“A SupportLink Referral Coordinator has been appointed locally, and will be primarily responsible for engaging and strengthening relationships with Alice Springs’ and Territory-based referral agencies.”

“The project will provide Police, community and Government agencies an opportunity to improve the referral system between one another and work together to deliver assistance to people.” Said Commissioner McRoberts.

“More than 30 agencies have so far joined the project which will enhance early intervention, crime prevention, keep the Alice Springs community safe and most importantly, give an opportunity to people to help improve their lives.”
