Strike Force Viridian Update - Darwin

Members from Strike Force Viridian have made 20 arrests during the first two weeks of operations targeting domestic and family violence across Darwin, Palmerston and the Rural Area.

Detective Acting Superintendent Bradley Currie said Officers have also cleared 29 domestic violence offences and served 11 Domestic Violence Orders since the inception of Strike Force Viridian on 25 November.

“Detectives arrested a 22-year-old man at Casuarina yesterday after he allegedly breached a Domestic Violence Order.

“While the offender was being arrested he allegedly assaulted two Police Officers by biting them.”

He has been charged with:

Engage in conduct that contravenes a Domestic Violence Order(x2)

Assault Police cause harm (x2)

Resist Police in the execution of their duty.

“Strike Force Viridian was established to reduce violence in our community. Assaulting women and children will not be tolerated and the assault of Police in the execution of their duties is not acceptable. Detective Superintendent Currie said.

“Strike Force Viridian investigators are dedicated to reducing incidents of domestic and family violence and holding perpetrators to account. Police will continue to provide a high level investigative response to domestic violence related crime.
