Strike Force Vega Update - Unlawful Entries - Alice Springs

Alice Springs Police continue to crack down on property related crime, with a decrease in the number of unlawful entries during October.

Detective Superintendent Brent Warren said last month there were 41 unlawful entries in Alice Springs compared to 50 for October last year.

“We have also seen a decrease in the number of unlawful entries for August and September compared to the same months last year.

“Since the inception of Strike Force Vega in February, there has been 293 arrests made, 1,246 offences cleared and 99 summonses issued.

“In the last week Police have made a further eight arrests including three youths caught trying to unlawfully enter a number of residences in East Side last night.

“Police received a complaint from a concerned neighbour and General Duty’s Members located the trio attempting to unlawfully entering a residence. The youths fled but were arrested by Police a short time later.

“The three males aged 13,14 and 15 have been charged with attempted unlawful entry and trespass on premises.

“The 14 and 15 year old males were remanded in detention, whilst the 13 year old was bailed to appear before the Alice Springs Youth Justice Court on 8 November.
