Forty people have been arrested as part of a crack down on property crime in Alice Springs.

Detective Senior Sergeant Peter Malley said Strike Force Vega has now been active in Alice Springs for three weeks.

“During that time members have arrested 40 people in relation to over 90 offences such as unlawful entry and stealing.

“Police have issued 11 summons and executed four search warrants and a further four warrants of apprehension.

“Police are committed to reducing the incidents of property related offences in Alice Springs and are actively targeting those who engage in this type criminal activity.

“It is only a matter of time before Strike Force Vega catches up with these low life’s,” Detective Senior Sergeant Malley warned.

“I continue to encourage members of the public to report any suspicious behaviour, you are our eyes and ears on the ground and your reports are great value to Police.”
