Due to the success of ‘Summer in Alice’ Northern Territory Police have established Strike Force Vega to continue targeting property offenders.

Detective Senior Sergeant Peter Malley said ‘Summer in Alice’ saw a significant number of property offenders identified and placed before the courts for property offences.

“Strike Force Vega was developed as the next step in our fight to reduce the number of unlawful entries, stolen motor vehicles, stealing and general property crime committed in Alice Springs.

“Police will continue to work towards enhancing community confidence by reducing the incidents of property related crime.

“In the first week, members from Strike Force Vega arrested five people in relation to the break and enter of the Red Ochre Grill on 18 February.

“The five men aged 19, 22, 24, 25 and 28 were charged in relation to 14 offences including aggravated unlawful entry, stealing and damage to property.

“This type of behaviour will not be tolerated and people who engage in this type of criminal activity will be caught." Detective Senior Sergeant Malley said.
