Strike Force Vega Clears 1,000 Offences

Since the inception of Strike Force Vega in February 2013, Vega members have cleared over 1,000 offences.

Detective Superintendent Brent Warren said this is a fantastic result with dedicated Investigators working hard to reduce property crime in Alice Springs.

“Strike Force Vega has been operating for 27 weeks, during that time members have made 239 arrests and summonsed a further 79 people in relation to 1,024 offences.

“In the last week members have made five arrests in relation to 27 offences including the arrest of a 20-year-old male for stealing and unlawful entry.

“The offender allegedly unlawfully entered an accommodation for backpackers in Larapinta on 24 August and stole Bluetooth speakers.

"The offender then allegedly entered a residence in Gillen and stole a 125cc motorbike.

“Members from Vega arrested the man a short time later still in possession of the stolen speakers. Police recovered the stolen bike in Eastside.”

He has been charged with:

Stealing (x2)

Aggravated enter dwelling with intent

Unlawful use of a motor vehicle

Trespass.

“Strike Force Vega is an ongoing operation and we will continue to target criminal activity linked to property crime offending in Alice Springs,” Detective Superintendent Brent Warren said.
