Strike Force Trident Reduces Crime

Police

Since the inception of Strike Force Trident in September 2012, Trident members have arrested 609 offenders, summonsed 106 and laid 2,716 charges.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Stringer said unlawful entries in the Darwin, Palmerston and rural areas have significantly decreased, down 38% compared to the same time last year.

“It is believed that 78% of all apprehensions thus far, have been recidivist offenders,” Detective Senior Sergeant Stringer said.

“Compared to this time last year, Darwin has seen a property crime reduction of 48%, Casuarina 29% and Palmerston 17%.

“We have seen the successful prosecution of ‘hard core’ property offenders and expect more in the future.

“People have a right to feel safe and secure in their own homes and Strike Force Trident Detectives will continue in their unrelenting approach to property related crimes across the Darwin, Palmerston and rural areas.”
