Stolen bows recovered

A 25 year-old man has been arrested and a 17 year-old youth is assisting Police with their inquiries following the recovery of items stolen from a Berrimah sporting goods store on March 20.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Bland said the items were recovered thanks to some very good work by General Duties Members.

“Responding to a separate issue Police from the Darwin station have noticed items of interest in the car of the 25 year-old suspect and contacted Officers from Strike Force Trident.

“Acting on this information Detectives have searched the alleged offenders house and recovered items that have been linked to the theft.

“Items recovered include 4 compound bows, 6 hunting knifes, 3 machetes and a collection of arrows.”

Detective Senior Sergeant Bland said the man is facing charges of aggravated unlawful entry, stealing and criminal damage.

“This is a very good result for Police as the recovered property is extremely dangerous in the wrong hands.

“We continue to thank members of the public who supply information to Police.  It is significant that offenders know that their actions are unacceptable to their victims, the Police and the general public.
