Serious Crime Squad Detectives are investigating the robbery and assault of a 37-year-old man in Wagaman last night.

Detective Senior Sergeant Peter Kennon said around 9pm the victim and a 38-year-old woman were walking near the intersection of Limmen Street and Carstens Crescent when they were approached by a group of youths.

“It is alleged the group approached the victim and asked for a cigarette. When denied, they demanded money and the man’s gold bracelet,” Detective Senior Sergeant Kennon said.

“The victim was assaulted by a number of offenders, at which time his gold bracelet was removed. The youths immediately fled the area.”

One of the offenders is described to be a teenager of Aboriginal appearance, solid build and had a thin moustache. At the time of the incident he was wearing a light coloured singlet and a baseball cap with a logo on the front.
