Police are calling on assistance from the public in relation to an unlawful entry and stealing incident which occurred in Coconut Grove.

Detective Sergeant Mark Bland from Strike Force Trident said at around 8:00am Wednesday an unknown female approached the 75-year-old female victim at her Reynolds Court home.

“It is alleged that moments later, this same woman unlawfully entered the victim’s home and stole a handbag off the table,” Detective Sergeant Bland said.

“It appears the woman waited for the victim to disappear from sight before cutting a hole through the mesh and entering through the front door.

“The alleged offender is described to be of Aboriginal appearance, approximately 30 years of age, 165cm tall and has a slim build. At the time of the incident she was wearing her dark hair pulled back in a pony tail and was wearing a white singlet top and black football style shorts with a yellow stripe. The woman is also described to be quite dirty in appearance.

“Anyone who may have seen this woman, or who may recognise this description, is urged to contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
