Six Charged in relation to Murder - Alice Springs

Detectives have today charged another male with murder after the death of a 33-year-old local man in Alice Springs, whose body was located north of Alice Springs near the Stuart Highway at around 6:30pm on Monday afternoon.

Detective Sergeant Tony Henrys of the Major Crime Squad said that a total of six men have now been charged in relation to the incident. Of the six men, five have been charged with murder and one has been charged with being an accessory after the fact. 

A further two men remain in custody and are currently assisting with enquiries.

“At this stage in the investigation we are very keen to speak with a tourist who was camped on the edge of the Stuart Highway just north of Alice Springs and who called 000 just before midnight on Monday night  to report a fire .

“We still have a number of avenues of enquiry to follow up, and we strongly encourage anyone with any information about this incident to contact police.”
