An 18-year-old man will appear in Alice Springs Magistrates Court today charged for the alleged sexual assault of a 14-year-old female last night.

Detective Senior Sergeant Peter Malley said the offender allegedly attempted to sexually assault the victim in a park in Sadadeen at around 7pm yesterday.

Detectives from the Southern Investigation Division arrested the alleged offender a short time later and charged him with:

Attempted sexual intercourse without consent

Aggravated assault.
