Sexual Assault Arrests - Darwin

Detectives from the Sex Crimes Unit have arrested two males in relation to two separate incidents which occurred late last week.

Detective Sergeant Glenn Leafe said at around 7:30pm on Thursday, a 17-year-old male youth allegedly sexually assaulted a woman on Scaturchio Street, Casuarina.

“A witness intervened and the male offender fled the scene on foot.

“The 31-year-old victim also received injuries to her face and was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital,” Detective Sergeant Leafe said.

“The youth was located nearby a short time later and was charged with attempt sexual intercourse without consent and aggravated assault. He is to appear in the Darwin Youth Magistrates Court today.

“In an unrelated incident, a 32-year-old male was arrested in Darwin following a sexual assault in Parap early Friday morning.

“It is alleged the 24-year-old female victim invited the man to her home where she was then assaulted.

“He was charged with sexual intercourse without consent and bailed to appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court on 3 December.
