A 15-year-old youth has sustained serious injuries in a brutal attack over the weekend.

Detectives from the Serious Crime Squad are investigating the assault of two males on a suburban street in Karama in the early hours of Saturday morning.

“Three patrol vehicles responded to a call for assistance at around 5.30 am,” said Detective Acting Superintendent Chris Board.

“Two males reported being assaulted by a group of persons, which had left the scene in a vehicle prior to Police arrival.

“Police swiftly located the vehicle of interest and arrested a 18-year-old male, allegedly involved in the incident, for drink driving.

“The 15-year-old victim has sustained a serious injury to his eye socket. This cowardly and unnecessary assault is a deplorable outcome.”

“This is obviously a traumatic time for both of the victims and their families as they deal with this senseless violence. Detectives will support them throughout the investigation.”
