Serious Assault -Charges - Katherine

Detectives from the Major Crime Squad and Northern Investigation Section have charged two men with the alleged serious assault of a 39-year-old man in Katherine.

Detective Senior Sergeant Peter Kennon, from the Major Crime Squad, said the two men aged 24 and 27, allegedly assaulted the victim outside the Katherine Court House on 29 August.

“The 39-year-old man remains in a serious but stable condition at Royal Darwin Hospital.

“The two alleged offenders were arrested Thursday afternoon and charged with aggravated assault causing serious harm.  The 24-year-old man also faces a charge of going armed with an offensive weapon.”

Both men will appear in Darwin Magistrates Court on Monday 2 September.
