Search Continues for Missing Plane

Northern Territory Police are continuing to support the Australian Maritime Safety Authority in the search for a missing light aircraft.

The Cessna 210 departed Bullo River Station mid-afternoon yesterday heading for Emakytee airfield south of Darwin, however failed to arrive.

On board were a 45-year-old man, his 53-year-old wife and their children aged 12 and 15.

Sergeant Meacham King says NT Police and NTES are providing aerial observers in an effort to locate the plane.

“In total, eight aircraft are involved in the search.” Said Sergeant King.

“Water Police along with the Beagle Gulf vessel have been deployed to the search area around Anson Bay.”

“Police remain hopeful of a successful outcome however bad weather is hampering the search.” Said Sergeant King.

Anyone who may have seen a low flying white and blue Cessna 210 around the Anson Bay/Port Keats area yesterday is asked to contact the Police Assistance Line on 131 444.
