Rock Throwing Incident - Alice Springs

Police are investigating an incident in which an Ambulance had one of its window shattered while responding to an incident in Alice Springs last night.

Watch Commander, Senior Sergeant Darrell Kerr said Police received reports rocks had been thrown at an Ambulance travelling on the Ross Highway near Palm Circuit at around 8:30pm.

“Several rocks hit the Ambulance shattering the driver’s side window and showering the occupants with glass, fortunately no one was injured.”

Due to the extent of damage, the Ambulance was deemed unserviceable and taken off the road.

“This was a thoughtless act and without this Ambulance on the road lives could be put at risk,” Senior Sergeant Kerr said.

“Members from the Southern Investigation Division are investigating this incident and Police will expand their patrols of hot spot locations for rock throwing.”
