Police Seize 6.2 kg of Cannabis

Drug and Organised Crime Detectives have seized more than 6 kilograms of cannabis following two arrests in Darwin.

Detective Superintendent Tony Fuller said two men, aged 23 and 30, were arrested in two separate incidents on April 24.

“Acting on information from a courier company Police have discovered 4.8 kg of cannabis in a parcel posted from South Australia.  A 23 year-old man was arrested shortly after collecting the parcel.

“In a separate incident later that evening a 30 year-old man was arrested after Police had apprehended his vehicle in Berrimah.  Police will allege they discovered 1.4 kilograms of cannabis on his back seat.”

Both men have been charged with possess commercial quantity of cannabis and were remanded in custody to appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court today.

Detective Superintendent Fuller said Police believe the drugs were to be sold in Darwin.
