Alice Springs Detectives are investigating the suspicious fire of a telecommunications tower in Yulara, which caused tens of thousands of dollars damage.

Detective Senior Sergeant Peter Malley from the Southern Investigations Section said the fire was reported to Police at around 4am on Sunday.

“Police and Firefighters attended the scene, near Yulara Shopping Square, and the blaze was extinguished.

“Although dealt with quickly, the fire caused in excess of $40,000 worth of damage.

“Police will continue investigating until the offender/s are located and charged.

“Anyone with information in relation to the fire, or anyone who may have witnessed suspicious behaviour in the area late Saturday night or Sunday morning, is urged to contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
