A 47-year-old NT Police Officer has been dismissed today on the grounds of ‘public interest’ following a Court conviction for Possess Child Abuse Material in Darwin on 17 May 2012.

This conviction was appealed and on 17 April 2013 the original conviction was upheld by the Supreme Court.

“The officer has been suspended from duty since 4 November 2011.” Said Commander Lance Godwin from the Professional Standards Command.

“The investigation was jointly conducted by the Sex Crimes Division and Professional Standards Command.”
