Methamphetamine Seizure - Darwin Airport

Police

Northern Territory Police have arrested a 32-year-old man after allegedly discovering 25 grams of methamphetamine on his person as he arrived in Darwin on an overnight flight from the Eastern States.

Detective Superintendent Peter Schiller from the Drug and Organised Crime Division said Police will allege the drugs were to be sold on the Darwin market.

“If sold at street level in the greater Darwin region the methamphetamine could have raised approximately $37,500.

“Unfortunately for the end users, these types of drugs are often mixed with other chemicals or additives to maximise profits.

“It is a timely warning to users that not only are you being potentially poisoned by these additives, the people selling them have no concern for your health or welfare and simply want to make as much money as they can.”

Detective Superintendent Schiller said the man has been charged with possessing a trafficable quantity and supply of a schedule 2 dangerous drug.

He was remanded to appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court today.
