Katherine Detectives have arrested a 38-year-old man following an assault upon a service station attendant on Katherine Terrace at 10.00 pm last night.

The man allegedly punched the victim in the face causing him to lose one of his front teeth and requiring medical treatment for the injuries.

Superintendent Michael White said Police located the man responsible this afternoon.

“The offender allegedly became enraged after being asked to leave the store, and struck the victim with his fist. 

“Katherine Police are committed to keeping people safe and will not tolerate those who commit violent acts against people within our community.

“We will continue to focus on anti-social behaviour and alcohol fuelled violence within the town by targeting those people who commit acts of violence,” he said.
