Man Charged with Threats to Kill – Alice Springs

A 26-year-old man will appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court in May charged with threats to kill, following an incident in Alice Springs on Monday.

Detective Sergeant Leith Phillips from the Southern Investigations Division said the man is alleged to have attended a residence in Ciccone on Monday night and made threats towards a 34-year-old man, known to the offender.

“Police received a report of the incident and arrested the man in possession of a loaded firearm at the scene. Detectives later conducted searches of the man’s vehicle and home, locating ammunition, firearm components and an extendable baton,” Detective Sergeant Phillips said.

“Members also located a small quantity of cannabis, cannabis seeds and other drug paraphernalia at the Araluen house.”

The 26-year-old was arrested and charged with:

  • Make a threat to kill a person
  • Drive under influence of drugs
  • Drive under influence of alcohol
  • Possess firearm under influence
  • Possess firearm whilst unlicensed
  • Possess ammunition without licence
  • Administer a dangerous drug to self
  • Possess a dangerous drug
  • Possess a thing to administer a dangerous drug
  • Possess fireworks outside approved period
  • Criminal damage.


He is to appear in court 2 May 2013.
