Katherine Show Operation

Police

Police are pleased to report a majority of Katherine ‘show-goers’ were well behaved, with only two arrests.

Acting Commander Michael White of the Northern Command said Police conducted a high visibility two day operation targeting anti-social behaviour both in and outside of the showgrounds.

“Police set up a number of breath testing stations, which resulted in the arrest of one person, for medium range drink driving and three others received Traffic Infringement Notices.

“A further 18 people received Liquor Infringement Notices and 12 were taken into Protective Custody due to their level of intoxication.

“Over the two day event, Police also tipped out approximately 22 litres of alcohol.

“All in all everyone, minus a choice few, seemed to enjoy themselves and I look forward to the return of the Katherine Show next year.”
