Infringement Notice for Fireworks - Leanyer

A 21-year-old man has received two infringement notices, after Police located a quantity of fireworks within his Leanyer home.

Senior Sergeant Peter Lindfield said Police received reports from a concerned neighbour at around 1:30pm yesterday that a firearm had been discharged numerous times throughout the day at a home on Legune Avenue.

“Police attended and followed the necessary protocols, however within a short time, it was established the 21-year-old resident had been letting off fireworks intermittently over a 24 hour period,” Senior Sergeant Lindfield said.

“Police issued the man with two infringement notices for possessing and using fireworks outside the approved period. This silly behaviour cost him a total of $564.

“Fireworks can only be let off between the designated hours on July 1 otherwise you can receive an on the spot infringement notice of a minimum of $282. This behaviour is not only costly, but dangerous and Police urge anyone who witnesses this type of behaviour, to contact them on 131 444.”
