Southern Investigation Detectives are investigating an incident in which a man is alleged to have impersonated a Police Officer in Gillen yesterday.

Detective Senior Sergeant Leith Phillips said a 49-year-old man was driving along Bloomfield Street at around 6:30pm when he noticed blue and red lights flashing behind him.

“The man has pulled over and the alleged offender has asked the victim to step out of his vehicle. The alleged offender informed the victim he was issuing him an on the spot fine of $550 for speeding.

“The victim handed over the money and the alleged offender has left the scene, he was last seen driving towards Bradshaw Road.

“The alleged offender is described as approximately 180cm tall of slim build in his late 30’s. He has a brown full faced beard and was wearing a light purple dress shirt and grey dress pants.

“He was driving a blue sedan and had blue and red flashing lights on the dashboard.”

Detective Senior Sergeant Leith Phillips said Police do not demand cash payments from people when tickets are issued.
