Four Charged for Sexual Assault - Alice Springs

Police have arrested and charged four men in relation to the sexual assault of a 20-year-old woman in Alice Springs on Tuesday night.

Detective Superintendent Brent Warren said the woman was walking near the tourist information bay on the Stuart Highway at around 9pm when the incident occurred.

“Southern Investigation Detectives, with the assistance of General Duties Officers, arrested four men, aged 22, 21, 20 and 18 years, on Thursday night, and they were all charged late on Friday,” Detective Superintendent Warren said.

“The 18-year-old man also had two outstanding arrest warrants for two previous sexual assaults, which occurred in February 2013 and November 2012.

“He has been charged with sexual intercourse without consent (x4), robbery and providing a false name and is remanded to appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court today.

“The other three have been charged with sexual intercourse without consent (x4) and robbery and have been remanded to appear in court today.

“We greatly appreciate the assistance received from the public during the course of this investigation.”
