Maranboy Police have charged a 45-year-old man with firearm offences, following the seizure of number firearms and a large quantity of unsecured ammunition near Beswick yesterday.

Remote Sergeant Tom Chalk said Police received information the alleged offender was committing firearm offences in the area.

“Acting on this information Police attended a bush camp used for safari operations outside Beswick Community.

“Police located and seized seven firearms, a silencer, approximately 900 rounds of ammunition and fireworks inside a trailer that was located at the camp site.”

The 45-year-old man has been summonsed to appear at Katherine Magistrates Court at a later date.
