A motorcyclist, believed to be in his 20’s, has died following a crash this morning on Thorngate Road.
Major Crash Investigators remain on the scene and ask motorists to be aware of emergency personnel in the area.
Duty Superintendent Daniel Shean said Police were required to drive the ambulance while St John Paramedics did all they could to save the man’s life.
“Sadly, his injuries were too severe and he has died on arrival at Royal Darwin Hospital.”
Duty Superintendent Shean said that an investigation was in its very early stages but it seems the man was not wearing a helmet when he came off his bike at around 6.30am.
The death is the second involving a motorcycle in two days following a fatal crash in Alice Springs.
Police, Fire and Rescue Services and St John Ambulance urge all road users to keep alert and drive safely at all times.
The road toll now stands at 19 compared with 23 at the same time last year.
