A 41 year-old female has died after being struck by a motorcycle in Alice Springs.

Superintendent Mark Christopher said initial investigations suggest the woman was lying on Sturt Terrace in East Side around 2:30am this morning when she was hit.

“Unfortunately, injuries received have proven to be fatal despite the best efforts of emergency personnel.

“The 21 year old male rider received minor injures from falling off the bike after striking the woman.”

Superintendent Christopher said the L plate rider returned a positive test for alcohol and could face charges as a result.

Major Crash Investigations are continuing.
