Fatal - Alice Springs

Police

Northern Territory Police are currently investigating a fatal crash in Braitling that brings the Territory road toll to four.

Detective Sergeant Mick Schumacher of the Major Crash Investigation Unit said Police received a report a vehicle had crashed into a yard on Ludgate Street at around 5:00 am today.

“Initial investigations indicate the Holden Colarado 4x4 twin cab was travelling south along Campbell Street when the driver lost control of the vehicle and collided with a tree outside the residence on the corner with Ludgate Street,” said Detective Sergeant Schumacher.

“A 37-year-old male driver has died as a result of the crash.

“Indications are that the man may not have been wearing a seatbelt and at this early stage it is not known whether speed or alcohol were contributing factors into the crash. Investigations are continuing.”

The road toll for the same period this time last year was six.
