Members from Strike Force Trident have charged two men following the seizure of a quantity of drugs and explosives.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Stringer said Police executed a search warrant at a unit in Brinkin on Friday, and located a large quantity of illicit drugs and cash were located in the unit.
“A vehicle located at the premises was searched and a quantity of explosives and detonators were located.
“A man was arrested and charged with a range of offences including:
Possess schedule 1 drug (commercial quantity)
Possess schedule 1 drug (trafficable quantity)
Possess methyl amphetamine (trafficable quantity)
Possess dangerous goods
Cause/contribute to dangerous situation
Possess explosives without licence
Unsafe handling of dangerous goods.
“In a separate incident a 24-year-old man was arrested by Strike Force Trident members following a traffic apprehension in a car park at Casuarina Beach.
“Police located and seized a small amount of methamphetamine, a small amount of cannabis, drug paraphernalia and a quantity of explosives.
“Due to the unstable condition of the explosives, they were safely destroyed at the scene. The 24-year-old was arrested and charged with a number of offences including:”
Possess methamphetamine
Possess cannabis
Possess explosive without a licence
Cause/ contribute to a dangerous situation
Possess thing to administer dangerous drug to self
Drive vehicle while suspended.
Both men are to appear in Court today.
