A 41-year-old man will appear in Darwin Magistrates Court today charged with possession of a schedule 1 drug and drug driving.

Detective Senior Sergeant Peter Schiller from the Drug and Organised Crime Squad said Police apprehended a three trailer road train south of Adelaide River yesterday.

“Police conducted a search of the road train and located and seized 10 grams of amphetamine, drug paraphernalia and a replica firearm.

“The driver also provided a positive result to a road side drug test. He was arrested and charged with:

Possess schedule 1 – trafficable quantity

Possess drug implement

Posses prohibited weapon

Drug driving.

“Of particular concern to Police is the danger to other road users when operators of vehicles of this size are affected by dangerous drugs.”
