Police are investigating the death of a 71-year-old woman who fell from the Edith Falls Lookout early this afternoon.

A coordinated response from Police, St John Ambulance and Rangers were able to locate and retrieve the woman, who had fallen 40 meters below the Lookout.

The woman received first aide treatment at the scene but passed away a short time later.

Police will now prepare a report for the Coroner.
