Serious Crime Detectives are investigating following a single vehicle crash in Winnellie this morning.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Matt Allen said, “The 26 year-old male driver is in custody and the cause of the crash is under investigation.”

“We would ask that anyone who may have witnessed the incident to please contact Police on 131 444.”

“At this stage we believe alcohol may have been a contributing factor.”

“A 23 year-old female passenger has suffered minor injuries.”

The crash occurred near the intersection of Tate Place and the Stuart Highway in the vicinity of the Darwin showgrounds sometime before 1am this morning.
