Child abuse material seized - Humpty Doo

Police

Officers from the Online Child Exploitation Investigation Unit have arrested a 22 year-old man for the possession and distribution of child abuse material.

Senior Constable Donna Stewart said a search warrant was executed at the residence yesterday where items containing child abuse material were allegedly located.

“Police have seized computers, hard drives, laptops and a gaming console that we will allege were used for the storage and distribution of these images.

“It is disturbing that this person allegedly has actively sought to share and trade these files to others.  The children within these images are repeatedly being victimised and we will continue to vigorously pursue and apprehend anyone who deals in this distasteful business.”

Senior Constable Stewart said a 49 year-old woman who also lives in the house has been summonsed for possession and cultivation of cannabis after Police allegedly found 31 plants and 646 grams of loose material during the search.

“The seizure of a significant crop of cannabis was unexpected but welcomed by Police.”  Senior Constable Stewart said.

The man has been bailed to appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court on June 19th.
