Call for Witnesses - Darwin

Police are calling for witnesses in relation to an incident where a 31-year-old man was assaulted along The Esplanade at approx 4.00am this morning.

“Serious Crime Detectives are investigating an incident where a 31-year-old male intervened during a domestic disturbance whilst walking home along The Esplanade at 4.00 am.” Detective Sergeant Karl Day said.

The victim was then surrounded by four males who king hit him in the jaw, kicked and punched him until fleeing the scene in a green Holden Commodore and a red Hyundai.

“It is believed the offenders were earlier evicted from the Doubletree by Hilton and Investigators are urging any witnesses or any member of the group evicted from the Doubletree to come forward.  Detective Sergeant Day stated.

“With the assistance of uniform members we have several leads on the ringleader of the attack and once all witnesses have been interviewed we will focus on locating and arresting the persons responsible.” 

The victim was transported to RDH and was later discharged; he will undergo further medical examinations to determine the full extent of his injuries.  

Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have information about the assault to phone police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
